About Brian

I don't even know where to start, when describing Brian Wilson. I would love to be able to make this as unbiased as possible, but because I feel so strongly about him, his music, his history, I might not be able to do that. And for that, I apologise.

For those who are unaware of who Brian Wilson is, let me introduce him briefly. Brian Douglas Wilson is one of the founding members of The Beach Boys (along with brother Carl, brother Dennis, cousin Mike Love and childhood friend Al Jardine), and he is the composer, arranger and producer, of some of (in my opinion) the most beautiful, fascinating, magical and heartfelt music, that has ever been made. Born on June 20th 1942, he has led quite a life. Not only have he earned a very high status in the music community, but he has also been through more than most people can imagine. The joy that his music has brought us, was his pain, happiness, loneliness, and a plea for approval. But it isn't just Brian's music that I am deeply fascinated by. It's also his life, his persona, and his way of thinking and how despite everything he has been through - he has survived. He has been abused, used, degraded, discouraged and kicked down, but I hope he will find happiness, and that he will feel safe. I wish that more for him than I do for myself. As weird as that might sound, it's the truth. But I can't possibly fit Brian’s entire story in here, and I won't try. All I can say is that I have tremendous respect for him, as well as admiration. Again, not just for his music, for his persona, and his life.

I still feel like Brian's music is incredibly underappreciated. He deserves to be acknowledged because he has raised the bars in music. He has even raised them to a point, where they are impossible to reach. But he has given us an incredible gift, and I think it will forever be timeless.
